The room is lit only by a slowly flickering candle on the night table and a small ray of moonlight streaming through the window above the ornately carved hardwood headboard. The curtains, thin as gauze, do little to obscure the celestial light. She lies upon the bed with her eyes closed and yet she is aware of the silhouette in the bedroom doorway. The shadow moves closer as she begins to caress her left calf with the toes of her right foot slowly and gracefully. She turns her head toward the doorway and opens her eyes, acknowledging his presence for the first time. The bed is unmade - the down comforter and top sheet thrown carelessly to the floor at the foot of the bed and the stark white bottom sheet glows a pale blue in the moonlight. It is difficult to tell where the sheet ends and her white lingerie begins in the half light of midnight. She rolls from her side onto her back with her one knee bent so that the crotchless panties she is wearing separate slightly for him and motions him forward with a subtle wave of her finger. After a day-long drive, we reached our hotel in Terre Haute, a little more than halfway to our destination. After checking in, we went to a local hole-in-the-wall restaurant before returning to the hotel.
Shortly after arriving in our room, as my husband sprawled out upon the bed, I reached into my purse and produced something he had not seen before: an MP3 player. He watched me curiously, not saying anything as I also withdrew the normal-style headphones.

You and I are co-workers. We’ve worked together for many years and are friends. Around the office I have earned the nickname “Ice Princess” because I don’t socialize with the people I work with outside of work and I won’t go out with any of the men I work with. I tend to dress very conservatively: either pants or knee-length skirts, always with pantyhose and I always wear loose-fitting blouses and blazers.
One day after work I decide to hit the gym in our office building. Knowing that everybody’s left already, I change into my standard work out gear: white sports bra and matching shorts. As Mr. Harrison yelled those oh so familiar words at her, Mandy began to wonder whether she was really meant to be a secretary.
